1. Why do my SABBIA TALENTI pieces sometimes vary a bit in color intensity or design?
Because every piece of our ceramics is painted entirely by hand it is impossible for each item to be identical... that is the wonderful nature of handcrafted work!
2. What are the best ways to prevent chipping or cracking my SABBIA TALENTI pieces?
Due to the fragile nature of earthenware ceramics, it is important to handle your pieces carefully to avoid chipping. Earthenware ceramics do not tolerate temperature extremes well, so it is best to "temper" your pieces when serving very hot food.
3. What does "temper" your SABBIA TALENTI ceramics actually mean?
The best way to temper your ceramics is probably by warming them with hot tap water, although a warming shelf/drawer and warming pads are also effective. It is simply a means of gently warming your ceramic dinnerware to avoid "thermal shock" which can result in cracking or in craizing.
4. Should I stay with all one SABBIA TALENTI pattern or is it better to mix and match patterns?
A table set with all one pattern will certainly be beautiful but the majority of customers do mix patterns to one degree or another. Our staff will be happy to assist you in determining the best look for your home.
5. Can my SABBIA TALNETI pieces go in the oven or microwave?
Your ceramics should not be used for baking or cooking in either the oven or microwave. Even warming food in the microwave can cause the piece to become very hot.
6. What about washing my SABBIA TALENTI dinnerware in the Automatic Dishwasher?
Your SABBIA TALENTI ceramics are safest washed by hand, although with some extra care you may use your automatic dishwasher. We recommend using a fine china cycle, low heat and a good quality detergent... and always be careful to stack your pieces very carefully to avoid chipping contact during the wash cycle.
7. I purchased several ceramic pieces on a recent trip to Italy... Will my SABBIA TALENTI selections match those pieces exactly?
Because each piece is hand painted, it is always difficult for two pieces to match each other exactly... even two pieces painted by the same Vendor group. Some majolica patterns are so traditional that Vendor groups all over Italy paint the same pattern. In cases like this each Vendor interprets the same pattern in slightly different ways... sometimes the form of the piece itself will also vary.
8. Why does Sabbia Talenti special order its ceramic product en lieu of stocking individual ceramic items in their warehouse?
All our ceramic product is painted by hand. This means that each ceramicist has an unique style which results in an unique interpretation of an existing pattern. When dinnerware and serving pieces are stocked patterns can differ dramatically as well as glaze colors. This is due simply to the fact that more than one artist has painted individual pieces at different times. In contrast when a special order is delivered it has been painted by a single artist therefore the pattern and glaze colors remain consistent to that order. Cost of the actual pieces is not increased with a special order. From a merchandizing standpoint Sabbia Talenti does not risk collecting mismatched pieces that are unacceptable to our customers.
